• Gained experience working under the deadline pressures of a daily newspaper environment.

Freelance Writer, Intern, January 2008 – December 2008
• Began as an intern, then freelanced at an alternative weekly newspaper covering issues in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia.
• Developed reporting experience on a wide variety of subjects including local military operations, local and national political elections, small businesses and the economic crisis, and personal profiles.

Intern, May 2008 – August 2009
• Published 22 articles covering hearings on Capitol Hill, political protests, and think tank debates and presentations.
• Compiled research on Title IX for an article in Civitas Journal with AIA Executive Director Mal Kline.
